Make a pit stop at the spotty cafe

Mention “the spotty cafe” to a Sheffield cyclist and they’ll immediately know where you mean. Bank View Cafe turned polka dot in 2014, to welcome the Tour de France peloton as it whizzed past and to spur its riders on in their quest for the King of the Mountains jersey.

Its spots may be relatively new, but Bank View Cafe’s history with the cycling community pre-dates the Tour’s visit to Yorkshire. Overlooking Langsett Reservoir, the cafe has for many years been well loved by road cyclists out tackling the climbs at the border of Sheffield and the Peak District.

As well as being ideally situated and serving a mean fried brekkie and pint of tea, the cafe is also a popular pit stop for cyclists thanks to the bits of gear it offers: spare inner tubes, pumps, emergency kit. And, as a bike, dog and child friendly place, they’re not going to kick off if you get a little mud on the floor.

Location: Langsett, S36 4GY.
Phone: 01226 762337.
Open: Every day, 9am-5pm.
