With one of the largest walking communities in the UK, it's not suprising that Sheffield has a strong Ramblers Group which is remarkably active. The Sheffield Ramblers walk in most directions out of the city, with many routes taking in the stunning scenery of the Peak District.
Walks take place every week on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday with routes ranging from short hour-long strolls to more strenuous walks of up to 15 miles.
New starters can try two or three walks with the Ramblers before signing up. Find out more in the group's walks programme, and in the meantime take some inspiration from our interview with Sheffield Ramblers' chairperson Terry Howard, all about his lifelong passion for the city and rambling.
See our guide to Sheffield's walking groups if you're keen to head out on organised walks more regularly.
