Sheffield is blessed with easy access to a railway line, which facilitates a series of inspiring walks that can all be enjoyed in a one-way direction.
Making most of the local trans-Pennine services, Our Favourite Places put together a series of three railway walks, starting and ending at Peak District stations a short distance from Sheffield. First of the trio is a 4-mile walk from Hope to Hathersage, passing by a 13th century church, the remains of a fort, a modernist cement works, and a tranquil riverside hamlet.
Pick up a coffee at the Motore van near Sheffield station and climb aboard a train, Peak-bound.
